Guns & Ammo

Minus the Bear released an an acoustic album last week. The first track, “Guns & Ammo”, is new, and the other six songs are acoustic versions of songs from previous albums. Anyway, enough beating around the bush, you can download it here.

I’m actually seeing Minus the Bear on the 23rd. Last time I saw them was at Langerado (this past March) and we managed to sneak into the press area, so that was pretty cool. Anyway, they put on a good show, so I’m looking forward to that. Last Wednesday (the 8th) I saw Between the Buried and Me (the “Blooddrunk Tour” with The Black Dahlia Murder and Children of Bodom) which was pretty cool. BTBAM opened though, and we were about fourty five minutes late for the show, so I only caught their last song, “White Walls”… Which was awesome to hear live, by the way. It sort of made me want to eat someone. The next night (Thursday the 9th) I saw Buckethead, which was also pretty awesome. And Saturday night (the 11th) I saw Yonder Mountain String band (for the second time). They put on an awesome show as usual, and I had a great time. I never would have thought that I could get into bluegrass, and I have no idea how that happened. Also, last month I got 4 free tickets to Carcass (with Necrophagist, Suffocation, and Dying Fetus, at the Starland Ballroom) from Jose (a DJ from Sirius Hard Attack), which was pretty awesome. He mentioned on the air that he had some free tickets, so I sent him an email, and he got back to me the next day with 4 tickets, simple as that. Considering the fact that Sirius is pretty huge and has an enormous subscriber base (an estimated 19.5 million by the end of this year), I thought it was pretty cool that he hooked me up. It’s weird how I’ll go months without seeing any live music, and then a bunch of shows that I can’t miss just pop up out of nowhere.

Banksy recently opened a pet store in New York. As those of you who are familiar with Banksy probably guessed, it’s not your normal pet store. Check out a video of the place to see what I mean.

How many times have you fallen asleep watching a DVD, and throughout the night you’ll hear the DVD menu audio looping over and over again, but for some reason you don’t get up and change it? Most of my memories of this usually had something to do with alcohol and/or a “guest”. Anyway, not that it’s something that you want to experience, but this site does a pretty good job of simulating it. Totally random.

Don’t have a Halloween costume yet? If you’re lazy enough, you can probably pull off wearing one of these masks. Me? I just dropped more money than I probably should have on a Green Man suit that I’m not even sure I’ll be wearing. Y’all see this shit? It’s a chrome garbage can!
