Radon Balloon

There was a time in my life when I probably would have thought that stuffing a cat inside a homemade bong was hilarious, but now it just seems more cruel and sad than anything else. Blowing some smoke at a cat is one thing, but trapping inside a makeshift smoking device is kinda ridiculous.

Jan Terri’s “Losing You” is my new favorite song. Does this video remind anyone else of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job?

I don’t know why, but I continue to be fascinated by abandoned structures and buildings, and would love to spend more time exploring them. So of course I spent a good 15 minutes looking at 100 abandoned houses. I wonder what it is that causes people to be interested in this stuff? Wouldn’t most people consider these things “eyesores”, not worthy of looking at, let alone taking pictures of?

If I told you that there was music that makes you dumb, would you believe me? The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this article were bands like Nickelback and Hinder. A CalTech grad student did a study that looks for a correlation between musical preferences and SAT scores. The results are pretty interesting.

Metal Bastard, one of the MP3 blogs that I check out from time to time, posted what I thought was the new Mastodon album. A girl I work with is into metal (and also plans on attending Maryland Death Fest, which I’m pretty excited for), so I told her that I had downloaded it, but hadn’t had a chance to listen to it yet. Anyway, I sent the album to her, and she messaged me about half an hour later. “Hey, you know that every song on this album is ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, right?” Rickrolled via proxy. A little disappointing, but funny nonetheless.

I can’t believe it’s Thursday already. I meant to post about my weekend, but I suppose it’s getting a little late for that. Friday night I went to see my brother’s band, Vantine/Amadio. Afterwards we headed to the North Star Bar to check out Codename and U-Melt.

On Saturday, I drove to DC to meet up with some friends and see Patton Oswalt. I saw him once before (at Bonnaroo), but it was all old material and I knew almost every joke that he did. This time, he was recording for a new CD/DVD and a Comedy Central special (which I’ll most likely be in) so it was all fresh material. Driving home in the ridiculous snow at 12:30 am kinda sucked because I kept nodding off. I stopped for coffee twice, and by the time I got home (after 4 am) I was wired and couldn’t sleep.

Sunday night I went to see Clutch at the Chameleon Club. I’ve also seen them before at Bonnaroo, but this time was a much better show, and it was right up front the whole time. Definitely a good weekend overall.

It was also the final weekend of no drinking – The month definitely flew by though, and I’m glad I took some time off. I was hoping to get more things accomplished in the time that I spent not drinking, but I ended up going out on weekends almost as much as I do when I am drinking, so it didn’t make much of a difference as far as free time goes. The end.
