Juggalo Rydaz Unite

I was going to take the sarcastic approach and make a post along the lines of…

“I just got back from this year’s Gathering of the Juggalo’s, and man was it awesome! I only got stabbed once, and my homie KrustyWill hooked me up with free meth all weekend long! Check out my pictures here!

But I think this is worth a second look. I was already aware of the Insane Clown Posse “scene” (I’ve most likely posted about them before), but the pictures (and video!) from this event just blow my mind. I came across the pictures on a forum a few days ago, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them. I’m not a fan of the music, but everyone likes different stuff… No problem there. The thing is, every single person in attendance (based on those pictures) looks like a methed-out circus freak… And that is putting it nicely.

There was a time (back in 7th/8th grade I believe?) that I actually liked ICP. It was probably just the shock value of the music, but I still remember some of the songs, and they aren’t horrible. If I was hearing them now for the first time, sure, I’d hate them. But you know how that works… Music you liked way back in the day doesn’t sound bad to you now, even if you never listen to it anymore.

Anyway, I’m getting off topic here – What is it about this particular type of music that draws such a trashy, seemingly inbred crowd? Bands that fall into a unique niche tend to have their own unique followings (with The Disco Biscuits being another example of this), but the following of the Insane Clown Posse (and all of the other Psychopathic Records artists) are the most puzzling to me. I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule, but… Come on! I really don’t know what else to say.

If you didn’t watch that first video (“highlights” of the Gathering of the Juggalos”) that I linked to above… It really is worth checking out.

I never in a million years thought that I would be linking to Insane Clown Posse videos on YouTube from this site. It’s funny how that works. Anyway, I’m gonna go pick up a down-ass jugalette and kick back with some Faygo. MMFWCL.

Hey John, I’ve been visiting your site for about eight years now and somehow this is my first comment. I found your site looking for some rare SOAD tracks back in the day and have been reading ever since.

I live right outside of Detroit and the area is swarmed with juggalos. Most of them are unbearable but I can attest that there are a very select few who are tolerable. I attended summer camp this summer (umphreys, moe, etc) and there was a fair share of methed out looking circus freaks there as well.

I actually saw a video in a marketing class at Central Michigan University that focused on the rabidness of the icp fanbase. Shaggy and violent j are now millionaires with almost zero exposure because of their brand extension. They may not be as dumb as they look.

pmaster, that “Slim Anus” parody was pretty damn funny… “Bust it on my lip like a milk ad!”

JonTypeThing, I remember that SOAD tracks page. I think that brought in a lot of new people at the time. Sorry to hear that you live in a concentrated Juggalo area…You have my sympathy. I’ve heard about ICP being rich as hell, and it definitely makes sense, they’re obviously relatively smart guys.

Roadie, it works the same way… I hate everything about Limp Bizkit, but I used to like some of the older stuff. While I wouldn’t put it on myself now, if I heard it somewhere I probably wouldn’t mind it.

Gonna go get my tan on and listen to some Coldplay.
