Free Google Wave Invites November 30, 2009
I was invited to Google Wave a few weeks ago, but didn’t really sit down and try to use it much. I logged in this morning to give it a shot, and realized that I had 8 invites. I now have 5… So if you’d like a Google Wave invite, get in touch with me, or leave your email address in a comment here.

Invites sent.
I haven’t actually used Wave much yet. Got in on one “Wave” that is an offshoot of a message board I frequent, but it’s nothing great… And it lags a lot, too… Definitely crawls when people embed lots of polls/videos/etc into a Wave.
Cali is pretty cool so far… Super busy with work and getting settled in new place, hence the lack of updates, hope to make a post soon. The replies on this post (despite obvious motives) are reassuring, nice to know some people still check the site organically from time to time.

Haha, I don’t blame you for not checking more often… 2 posts this month? Serious slacking here. I’ve been doing some freelance work outside of my 9-5 that has cut into my free time, should be done with that soon though and will get back into the swing of things here… Whatever that means.
If I get anymore invites, I will make another post.

On its release last year I couldn’t find much to fault Avatar on. But after watching Alice – the first serious CGI-dominated 3D film since James Cameron’s immersive motion picture – there’s now a glaring issue with it: the bar was set waaay too high. Previously the computer generated effects in Alice would have knocked your socks off, however in a post-Avatar world it significantly underwhelms. Not an overly fair statement for a film which has consistently beautiful and detailed images – take the awe-inspiring climactic clash which is set on a chess board-esquire battlefield for example – but you can thank Cameron for that. Once you get past the fact that Burton’s creation does not aim to achieve realistic environments or creatures and that the actors will never appear to be anywhere other than in front of a green screen, you are in good stead to enjoy the colourful animation for what it was intended for: pure, undemanding, trippy wonderment.
