I was going to take the sarcastic approach and make a post along the lines of…

“I just got back from this year’s Gathering of the Juggalo’s, and man was it awesome! I only got stabbed once, and my homie KrustyWill hooked me up with free meth all weekend long! Check out my pictures here!“

But I think this is worth a second look. I was already aware of the Insane Clown Posse “scene” (I’ve most likely posted about them before), but the pictures (and video!) from this event just blow my mind. I came across the pictures on a forum a few days ago, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them. I’m not a fan of the music, but everyone likes different stuff… No problem there. The thing is, every single person in attendance (based on those pictures) looks like a methed-out circus freak… And that is putting it nicely.

There was a time (back in 7th/8th grade I believe?) that I actually liked ICP. It was probably just the shock value of the music, but I still remember some of the songs, and they aren’t horrible. If I was hearing them now for the first time, sure, I’d hate them. But you know how that works… Music you liked way back in the day doesn’t sound bad to you now, even if you never listen to it anymore.

Anyway, I’m getting off topic here – What is it about this particular type of music that draws such a trashy, seemingly inbred crowd? Bands that fall into a unique niche tend to have their own unique followings (with The Disco Biscuits being another example of this), but the following of the Insane Clown Posse (and all of the other Psychopathic Records artists) are the most puzzling to me. I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule, but… Come on! I really don’t know what else to say.

If you didn’t watch that first video (“highlights” of the Gathering of the Juggalos”) that I linked to above… It really is worth checking out.

I never in a million years thought that I would be linking to Insane Clown Posse videos on YouTube from this site. It’s funny how that works. Anyway, I’m gonna go pick up a down-ass jugalette and kick back with some Faygo. MMFWCL.

I’m told that this is an amazing deal on an XBox 360. Sure, it’s refurbished, but it’s only $150, and I’m sure it comes with some sort of warranty. If I had more free time, I’d be all over this deal.

Unfortunately, I barely have enough time for my Wii as it is. I just hax0r3d the shit out of that thing so I can play “backups”, which is pretty awesome. Now I just need some time.

The “hack” was very easy, by the way, you just need a Wii (obviously), a copy of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and an SD card that is under 2 GB. By the way, I don’t own Zelda, and don’t plan on purchasing it (definitely no time for RPGs) so I signed up for a free 30 day trial of Gamefly. Blam.

Anyway, got pretty off topic there, hopefully someone else still has a little nerd left in them and can take advantage of some part of this post. I think I’m gonna run this image through the rasterbator. I’m gonna print it out and see if it’s visible from space. Okay, all kidding aside, I’m gonna go fondle my sweaters.

No, I’m not being paid to write this, although when “bloggers” are paid to promote businesses this is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Anyway, I’m mentioning this because there are a bunch of 25% off codes floating around. Get 25% off orders from November 6th-23rd by using one of the following codes: DVDTALK, GREEN, SUPERSALE, SOUTHSIDE, or SAVE. There are more, though you only need one. Pretty awesome if you were planning on ordering some DVDs anyway – Christmas presents?

HitMeLater is a pretty cool service. If you get an email and you’re busy, forward it to 24@hitmelater.com and they’ll resend it to you 24 hours later. You can replace ’24′ with any number, as well as a day of the week, and you can also specify specific dates and time periods. Or… I suppose you could just mark the email as unread and come back it later. I actually have zero use for something like this, but it’s still kinda cool.

I scored 25 out of 50 here, though I’m not much of a geek. More of a trogdor. Everything about this is awesome… I love the fact that velociraptorz is spelled with a ‘z‘ in the domain name.

Whoever came up with “My Face Condoms” is, well… Smart, I guess. I doubt they’re making bank off those, though it’s a pretty funny idea.

Want to get 25% off of anything on eBay for the next few days? Live.com’s cashback feature will credit your account with up to 25% of your purchase on eBay (minus the cost of shipping and handling). This was actually at 30% for the past week or so, but it didn’t dawn on me to post it here until just now. You’ll need to create a free account at Live.com. If you want to activate the 25% savings, head to Live.com and search for something like ‘cheap PS3′ or ‘cheap Wii’. At the top of the SERP (search engine result page for you non-nerds) you’ll see an eBay ad with something along the lines of “You may get 25% off with PayPal if eligible.” Click on that, and it will take you to eBay. Find whatever it is that you’re looking for – I’d suggest ‘Buy It Now’ items, I’m not even sure if this works on normal auctions. When you click ‘Buy It Now’, the green “Microsoft Cashback 25%” graphic should still appear on the screen. It should also appear at the checkout page. I may have done a crappy job explaining this, so if you’re looking for more detailed instructions, check out this thread on the SlickDeals forums. Something I learned the hard way is that you wanna look for Buy It Now items with free shipping. Even if they cost more than the items that don’t come with free shipping, do a little math and figure out what your total cashback amount will be. Let me know if any of you actually take advantage of this. It takes like 60 days to actually credit to your account, but it’s definitely worth it in my opinion, especially on the larger purchases. I just bought a new digital camera, as my last one was stolen a few weeks ago at a party in Philly. This is my 8th digital camera… Yup.

I recently got 2 new sets of speakers (Infinity Reference 9623i), an amp (MRP-F250), and a head unit (KDC-X492) put into my car. I also got my doors taken off, and had disappearing doors installed. That last part might be a lie though. Anyway, the head unit is pretty cool – You can plug your iPod into it directly via USB, and browse through all of your music right on the screen. So maybe that will help me stay on the road a little bit better. Anyway, I had it on shuffle this morning on the way to work, and Metallica came on. After a minute or so, it dawned on me that they will be playing at Bonnaroo at some point this weekend. I know its lame, but I’m pretty bummed about the fact that I’m not there this year. I’ve only been to Bonnaroo for the past two years, but I had so much fun both times, and I remember talking to the people that I went with about “not seeing any reason to stop going to Bonnaroo every year from now on”. But it just didn’t happen this year. Initally, when I saw that Metallica was on the lineup (with the likes of Kanye West and other unlikely candidates) it was a no-brainer – Bonnaroo is just “too commercial” now, and I’d be better off spending my money elsewhere. But after thinking about it for a while, I realized that with most of the festivals that I’ve gone to, I haven’t been there because of the headliners anyway. I’ve liked a lot of Metallica’s music for as long as I can remember – Before I even really got into metal. And while they themselves may be some of the biggest tools on the planet (and the douche factor is consistent), I still wouldn’t mind seeing them. Bonnaroo may not be the best place for them, but Mastodon and The Sword are there this year too. I think it’s safe to say that both of those bands are more “aggressive” than Metallica, but seeing them on the lineup really made me want to go. Anyway, I guess there are two schools of thought on Metallica at Bonnaroo – My initial reaction, which was that they don’t belong there at all, and could potentially “ruin” Bonnaroo… Or that the festival has evolved, and it’s all about diversity. I realize this wasn’t a very well thought out rant (or whatever you wanna call it), but I do wish I was there this year, and I’m sure that 60,000 or so odd people are having a blast right now in Manchester, Tennessee. Oh well, I’ll be in Michigan for Rothbury before I know it, and I’m sure I’ll have just as much fun there. I bet this dude is glad he decided to make the trip to Bonnaroo, though… I bet he’s having a great time right now.

Oh yeah, you can watch Bonnaroo coverage live here – I just caught some of Les Claypool’s set and they were doing a cover of Sabbath’s “Electric Funeral”, it was pretty bad ass.

Lately, I’ve been writing my posts little by little, and saving them on my jumpdrive. If someone sends me a link at work, I’ll throw it in a text file, and the post is usually done over the course of a week or so. My jumpdrive got effed up last week and I lost everything on it, so that kind of screwed things up for me. I ordered a new one on Tuesday (8 GB Kingston) for $30 and it came on yesterday, so now I’m “back in action”, so to speak. Plus, I can throw MP3s on this thing and then plug it right into my car’s head unit, which is pretty cool. I’m actually kind of obsessed with it right now. I’ve been sleeping my car, too. That’s not weird, is it?

I never play video games anymore, but I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Metal Gear Solid 4. I really enjoyed the other Metal Gear games… Even when I did play video games once in a while, a game could rarely hold my attention for more than a few days, but I played these games a lot, and I actually played Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 the whole way through. If #4 is <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/881/881472p1.html" title="Metal Gear Solid 4 Review" 10/10">as good as people are saying, it might be worth buying a PS3 for… But I doubt I will.

Last weekend, I ended up going to The Roots Picnic at the Festival Pier @ Penn’s Landing in the city. The last time I saw The Roots was at Langerado, and since half of the band was stuck in traffic, the performance was a bit lacking, to say the least. Anyway, before I left, I saw a posting on a message board that some dude was looking for volunteers. I got in touch with him, and he said that if I ran the dunking booth for half an hour, he’d give me and my friends backstage passes. The guy told me to “come find him” when I got there, so I didn’t really count on it working out. Anyway, we got there around 2 or so and pregamed in the parking lot before heading in, since we anticipated the usual $8 beers. After wandering around for a little, I found the dunk tank, and before I knew it, I had tracked down the dude who I talked to earlier. He gave me a George Bush mask and 4 backstage passes. It was ridiculously hot out (hottest day of the year so far?) so I had no problem doing the dunk tank thing. Basically I sat there and drank beer (that we managed to sneak in) while wearing a Bush mask and giving people the finger as they attended to dunk me into the cold, refreshing water. I had a great time with it. We all took turns doing this, and then we decided to head backstage. Being backstage was pretty damn cool – Free food and beer, and all the bands were back there hanging out. When The Roots came on (they played several sets, in between the other bands) we headed out onto the stage. It was pretty damn cool to watch the band from the side of the stage (under shade) while everyone else was all crammed together, standing in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, the sound is setup so that it sounds best when you are in the audience, not when you are standing behind the band, so sometimes it was hard to tell what songs the bands were playing. Most of the time, I heard more bass than anything else. I got some great pictures though – I got one with ?uestlove, and Satomi Matsuzaki, the short little Japanese chick from Deerhoof. I would have gotten more, but to be honest, there were so many eccentrically dressed people backstage, I couldn’t tell who was who. Anyway, The Roots put on an awesome show. Gnarls Barkley started around 10, but my friends wanted to leave, so I only caught 2 or 3 songs; but they sounded pretty good. Anyway, it was a pretty good time, albiet a little bit exhausting. And going to the Manayunk bike races the following morning didn’t help things much, I’ve been recovering all week.

I don’t know what you guys have planned for the weekend, but I’m staying in my room and dancing to this song… All weekend long. It’s gonna be a good weekend.

These codes probably won’t last for too long, so get to it! I feel this is postworthy because that site tends to have the cheapest prices around on DVDs anyway (the majority of the time) so you can get some great deals if you get on that shiz. And they paid me $900 to post this, too.
