I was going to take the sarcastic approach and make a post along the lines of…

“I just got back from this year’s Gathering of the Juggalo’s, and man was it awesome! I only got stabbed once, and my homie KrustyWill hooked me up with free meth all weekend long! Check out my pictures here!“

But I think this is worth a second look. I was already aware of the Insane Clown Posse “scene” (I’ve most likely posted about them before), but the pictures (and video!) from this event just blow my mind. I came across the pictures on a forum a few days ago, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them. I’m not a fan of the music, but everyone likes different stuff… No problem there. The thing is, every single person in attendance (based on those pictures) looks like a methed-out circus freak… And that is putting it nicely.

There was a time (back in 7th/8th grade I believe?) that I actually liked ICP. It was probably just the shock value of the music, but I still remember some of the songs, and they aren’t horrible. If I was hearing them now for the first time, sure, I’d hate them. But you know how that works… Music you liked way back in the day doesn’t sound bad to you now, even if you never listen to it anymore.

Anyway, I’m getting off topic here – What is it about this particular type of music that draws such a trashy, seemingly inbred crowd? Bands that fall into a unique niche tend to have their own unique followings (with The Disco Biscuits being another example of this), but the following of the Insane Clown Posse (and all of the other Psychopathic Records artists) are the most puzzling to me. I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule, but… Come on! I really don’t know what else to say.

If you didn’t watch that first video (“highlights” of the Gathering of the Juggalos”) that I linked to above… It really is worth checking out.

I never in a million years thought that I would be linking to Insane Clown Posse videos on YouTube from this site. It’s funny how that works. Anyway, I’m gonna go pick up a down-ass jugalette and kick back with some Faygo. MMFWCL.

I should probably be ashamed for posting super-commercialized pop garbage like this… But we all have guilty pleasures, right? Kanye West as an individual strikes me as an enormous egotistical douchebag, but I’m not gonna lie, his music is kinda catchy. Anyway, his new album, “808s and Heartbreak”, made its way onto the interwebs (actual release date is November 24th), and you can check it out here:

Edit: I’m not sure how I feel about this. It’s definitely different from his other albums, it doesn’t even really sound like a hip-hop album to me, the majority of the songs that I listened to had more singing in them than anything else. I’ll give it another listen but I think Kanye may have “jumped the shark” with this one. And his recent comments about being “the voice of this generation” definitely aren’t helping matters. Who does he think he is, Bob Dylan?

A Tall Seven and Seven

I realize that this is a pretty cliched thing to say… But I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by. It blows my mind that September is almost here, and the summer is coming to an end. I guess that’s what happens when you get caught up in a routine? Working full time and driving roughly 50 minutes (sometimes over an hour) to and from work every day doesn’t leave time for much else. For the past month or so I was seeing someone (although it didn’t end up working out… no big deal) and I’ve also been checking out apartments, so most days when I get home from work I literally eat dinner and go to bed. I’m hoping to move closer to where I work soon, so I’ll have more time for things outside of work during the week. I’d imagine that once I get settled into an apartment, I’ll have more time for the site as well. Anyway… This has definitely been the quickest Summer of my life, though that’s not to say that I didn’t have a blast on the weekends. Hoodie season is almost upon us…

Hey! Leopard versus crocodile. Go. This would only be cooler if they could somehow throw a dragon into the mix.

I wouldn’t mind owning one of these things. Even though I’m not exactly sure what it is, I’d never need to wear shoes again, so that’d be cool.

Apparently this movie is so scary, no one can watch it alone. Some douche took that as a challenge, and rented out an entire theater, just so he could prove that the movie isn’t that scary. It cost him $1160… I wonder if it was worth it?

Pixlr is a free online image editor that seems pretty similar to Photoshop – I only messed around with it for a minute, but a lot of the keyword shortcuts are the same, and you can create new layers and stuff. I could see this thing coming in handy, definitely worth checking out, especially if you use Photoshop a lot.

Wow, this is really cool. Writing with a waterfall? Leave it to the Japanese. Anyway, now I have to go pee.

I wish that teachers would have shown us more stuff like this when I was in school… I might have actually paid attention in classes… Probably not, actually, but it would have made things a little bit more interesting.

Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts I-IV

Some of you may already be aware of this, but Trent Reznor has released a new Nine Inch Nails album titled “Ghosts”, and he’s using the internet to distribute it. This is still a relatively new way of releasing music, and bands like Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead are at the forefront of the movement. On the official website, you can get the first volume of “Ghosts” for free. There are four volumes, and several ‘plans’ to choose from in order to obtain the other three: “$5 gets you a download of all four volumes/36 tracks, $10 gets you the download + the collection on two CDs, $75 comes with a fabric slipcase and a data DVD and other crazyness, and for $300 he’ll sign stuff and give you the collection on vinyl and probably cook you dinner if you ask nicely.” (via Stereogum) Since the NIN.com servers are apparently pretty overloaded right now, I threw the album on megaupload (here) for your convenience. I have seen the first volume of the album on a few different torrent sites (such as The Pirate Bay) and it’s pretty obvious that Trent (or someone that works for him) uploaded it, so that’s pretty cool. I listened to Vol 1-4, and it sounds pretty decent – FYI, it’s all instrumental. That’s all for now.

28 Gleeks Later

I went to see 28 Weeks Later with my girlfriend on Monday. I really liked the first one, so I had my hopes up that the sequel wouldn’t be a disappointment… And it definitely wasn’t. I can honestly say it was just as entertaining as the first one. The style of directing and the cinematography of 28 Days Later were part of the reason why it was so well received. This style was also used in the sequel, and it worked just as well. I’m not gonna write a synopsis of the movie or anything here, but it is definitely worth checking out if you liked the original. And if you haven’t seen the original yet, you should check it out. You could definitely enjoy 28 Weeks Later without having seen it’s predecessor, but I think you’d be better off having seen the original first.

Someone reminded me how long it’s been since I posted ‘freebies’ on here… So here we go.
