Christmas Post (3 Hours Late)

Edit: Forgot to mention this, I’ll be filling the requests from the last post soon, I was able to find the things that were asked for.

For the past few years, I’ve enjoyed reading the “best of” lists that people make, typically for the years top albums. These lists usually surface early to mid December, but I just recently decided to find them. Largehearted Boy has put together a “master list” of 2006 year-end music lists, check it out here (and page two here).

So some of you have probably heard by now that James Brown passed away last night. If you haven’t, here is the article. And here is a music video that will surely offend more people right now than it ever did back in the ’90s when it was released.

The second largest oil field in the world is exhausted. Merry Christmas US and A!

Merry Christmas to everyone, but especially to the Shippensburg police. God bless you guys, seriously. (Sarcasm - Check out how painfully awful their site is though!) More to come later. Bored? Play this game for about two minutes, then proceed to slam your head into the nearest solid object.

Macaca!

So… I graduated from Shippensburg University on December 16th. It’s now Winter Break, and most people are at home relaxing. I’m still in Shippensburg, and I’ve had so much stuff to do, I haven’t even had a chance to start packing my stuff up yet. I plan on leaving tomorrow morning, but I still haven’t packed much yet, so I should probably be doing that instead of posting on here… But it’s been too long.

Last night at the bar I was talking to this kid who I see out all the time - He has tons of piercings and tattoos, and his ears are gauged so huge that I could probably fit my arm through them. Anyway, somehow the conversation got into his hobbies. I don’t know how many of you have seen The Cell (which I think is an awesome movie), but the “villian” in the movie is shown suspending himself from hooks in his basement, and it comes off as a sexual/fetish type thing. Well apparently this kid does that too, he called it “suspension“, and he was telling me how his friends hang him from hooks, and he’ll stay on them for five minutes or so. I didn’t want to pry too much so I didn’t ask the kid why he did it or anything, but that struck me as somewhat odd. Now I know what I’m gonna do next time I get bored.

Whenever I want a new desktop wallpaper, I used to browse around on deviantart, and there is never a shortage of awesome imagery to be found. But I just stumbled across this site, and not only are there a ridiculous amount of high resolution desktop images there, most of them are pretty amazing, too.

Last time I posted, I asked if anyone had any album requests. A few of you mentioned some albums, and I wasn’t able to find some of them, but I did track down the new (and unreleased) Moonsorrow album. I never really got into these guys, but I gave it a listen and it does sound pretty cool. It’s definitely, um… Epic. Anyway, here it is - It’s a scene release by the way.

Moonsorrow - V Haevitetty (2007)

If there are any other album requests, let me know, I’m usually pretty good at tracking stuff down.

I think I’ve posted about this Line Rider game before, as well as links to videos of crazy courses people have made. But I just came across Line Rider - Urban Run, and if you’ve messed with the line rider game itself you’d see that whoever made this video must have a ton of times in their hands. Pretty impressive though.

Mario has always seemed like a genuinely nice guy. However, there’s more than meets the eye here. Check out six sinister things about Super Mario. While I’m posting lists, here’s two more worth checking out: The most dangerous roads in the world (here) and The ten most bizarre people on Earth (here).

Feeling cheerful this holiday season? Perhaps a bit too cheerful? If you feel the need to bring your mood down a few notches, My Miserable Christmas is just the thing you need. People write about their most miserable christmas experiences, and it makes for quite a downer. I wouldn’t actually recommend this site to anyone, it’s pretty depressing. (Link stolen from Eluid.org)

Alright, that’s it for now, I need to start packing my stuff up. Nothing else to do? Why not track Santa with Google.

Bonnarizlet

From Bonnaroo.com:

For the 2007 edition of Bonnaroo we are making available a limited quantity of discounted early-bird tickets before the line-up is announced. The early-bird pre-sale begins Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM and ends as soon as the allotment is sold-out (Or until we come to our senses and cancel the promotion). Quantities of these specially priced tickets are extremely limited, so act fast!

I don’t know how many of you are even into music festivals, or the types of bands that tend to be at them. I’m not a huge fan of jam bands, but I went to Bonnaroo last year and had an amazing time. The music was cool, but that was only part of the experience. I’m definitely getting my ticket tomorrow morning because they’re selling for $125 (plus service charges, shipping, and miscellaneous BS, bringing the total to about $150). Last year I spent over $200 for my ticket because I waited until later in the year to buy it. The lineup for this year hasn’t even been announced yet (speculation here, but I’m sure some bands I’d like to see will end up being there. Anyway, if it just happens to be 10 AM on Wednesday, December 13 2006 (or soon after) and this post has inspired you to buy a ticket, you can do so here. But if my posts have that strong of an influence on your thoughts and actions… Would you be interested in buying some real estate in an imaginary place?

Anyway, yeah, my posts lately (ha!) have been dealing with music more than in the past, and I guess some of the music I’ve been posting hasn’t appealed to many of you. How about this - Post in the comments area an album you’d like to see on here, and if I have it (or can get it, which I most likely can) I’ll post it on here.

Have you ever come across a YouTube video that you wanted to download, so you could view it later, maybe on your iPod/PSP/other mobile device? There are several ways of doing this, but now there’s a surprisingly simple way: Vixy.net’s FLV Online Converter. Definitely a nice tool to add to your bookmarks, I know it’ll come in handy for me at some point.

Alright, I have a final in about 45 minutes, and it’s inevitably going to pwn my soul, but I should probably hit the books.

The Uriah Omen

Wow… It’s been super long since I posted. I’ve been pretty busy since this is my last semester. Today just happens to be my birthday, so this is gonna be brief as well, but I’ll try to start posting a bit more regularly.

So yeah… This video may be offensive to some, but I thought it was funny. Never been a big Steve Irwin fan though, so that may have something to do with it.

If any of you are He Is Legend fans, maybe you’ve heard of The Uriah Omen. This was the name that He Is Legend went by when they put out an album in 2001. It’s titled “A Kiss That Killed The One We Love” and I’ve been keeping a look out for it now for the past year or so. Anyway, I figured I’d never find it, but I stumbled across someone who was willing to share their copy. So if by some odd coincidence you happen to be looking for this as well, you’re in luck. You can download it here. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, but everything else I’ve heard by He Is Legend is amazing, so I’d be surprised if this wasn’t as well. For more albums by these guys, go here. I’m heading out for the night… If you’re bored and wanna waste some time, check out the missile game.

The Devil & God

For a long time, I passed the band Brand New off as another emo-ish piece of crap. I remember when I lived in the dorms a lot of people listened to them, and I just ignored it. I don’t really remember at what point I started to pay attention to them, but eventually I heard the album Deja Entendu and it grew on me a lot. I still don’t really like the first album, as it’s just too ‘poppy’ for my tastes, but I’ve been looking forward to the new one for awhile. It’s titled “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me”, and it comes out on November 21st, but you can get it right now. here is the “Oink” release, and here is a release that came out this morning - It may be higher quality, I’m not sure because it doesn’t say in the .NFO file and I honestly don’t care that much.

It’s impossible to make a movie like Borat’s and not have any repercussions, namely people becoming upset after finding out they were tricked and are now the subject of a joke that is sweeping across the nation. I’ve seen several articles floating around about people losing jobs as a result of the movie and etc. Here’s two of them: “How I Was Duped By Ali G” and “Humiliated Frat Boys Sue Borat“.

I remember in middle school, our computer teacher tried to teach us to type by using games. The only one I really remember was a track and field game with events like someone running on a track, and the faster you typed what they saw on the screen, the faster the guy ran, and there were hurdles for him to jump over and stuff. I guess it made learning to type a bit more interesting, but I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if we had a game like this one.

Free Stuff: $50 Amazon Gift Certificate (If you qualify), Heavenly Scents candle, “Fast Food Nation” movie screening (in select areas only), Aquaphor healing ointment, 3 fragrance samples in customized box (the site is kind of cool too), Kodak inkjet photo paper sample, Chick Fil-A breakfast entree, Eucerin calming creme, Senseo gourmet coffee, “Fur Kills” stuff, Head & Shoulders shampoo, and a Free Pet Pedometer. Oh yeah, and click here to find out how to get an autographed photo of Bob Barker. Sure it’s free, but you can’t put a price tag on something that amazing anyway.

New Tenacious D Album

You can download “The Pick Of Destiny” right here. Don’t have time to listen to it because I’m heading out for the night. Enjoy.
